The Lake

Author: Richard Laymon

Publication details: New York: Leisure Books 2004

This title is fast paced and richly detailed. It is also gruesome, disturbing and creepy. It also is available in audiobook format. It is set in the small American town of Wisconsin.

In this book, a woman is forced to confront her horrifying past when her eighteen-year-old daughter, while hanging out at the lake during the summer, is tormented by a sadistic killer. He plunges them both into a world of terror and insanity. This makes them beg for death.

This book features 2 main characters, Leigh (the mother) and Deana (the teenage daughter). The other main character is the killer. Other characters have men and women relations.

This is suitable for teenagers and young adults. This is violently horrific. However, this is of high interest to this audience.
